Bob McIntyre is a third-year International Relations and Scottish History student who was awarded the Employability Bursary.

Bob used the fund to support him with work shadowing at the Airbus Public Relations department in Brussels in January 2023.

Bob McIntyre
The work shadowing experience with Airbus was very well organised and run with interesting and knowledgeable talks delivered online and later in person in Brussels. As a group we also visited the Airbus offices in Brussels for further talks and also visited the European Commission and Parliament all of which gave me a greater understanding of the EU and its institution which I was studying in International Relations. Overall, this experience was not only of benefit to my academic journey but also opened the door to new career insights in public relations.
The Employability Bursary can provide a great opportunity to experience different career paths at a time when money is very tight and students should use this help.
This award has made a difference to me as it has allowed me to consider a different career path that otherwise I would not have considered open to me, especially coming from a non-traditional university background. I would not have been able to undertake this work shadowing opportunity without the employability bursary.
We are delighted to hear that the Employability Bursary helped Bob undertake this work experience opportunity. To find out more, including information on how to apply and eligibility, please visit our Employability Bursary page.
